Sega Dreamcast

The Sega Dreamcast is a home video game console released by Sega in 1998. It was the first console to offer online gaming and the first to feature a built-in modem for Internet play. It was also the first console to offer a visual memory card, allowing gamers to save their progress as they played. The Dreamcast featured a 128-bit processor and a custom graphics chipset, allowing it to produce high-quality 3D graphics. It was also the first console to offer a built-in microphone, allowing gamers to connect to online chat services. The Dreamcast was popular for its expansive library of games, which included hits like Sonic Adventure, Soul Calibur, Crazy Taxi, and Phantasy Star Online. The console also featured a range of peripherals, such as the Visual Memory Unit, the Dreamcast Fishing Rod, and the Dreamcast Keyboard. The Dreamcast was discontinued in 2001 due to competition from the Sony PlayStation 2 and other consoles. Despite its short lifespan, the Dreamcast was a groundbreaking console that influenced the design of later consoles.
