Sega Mega Drive, also known as Sega Genesis in North America, is a 16-bit video game console released by Sega in 1988. It has a Motorola 68000 CPU, Zilog Z80 sound processor, and a Sega Video Display Processor. It was one of the most popular consoles of its time, selling over 40 million units worldwide. It was the first console to feature a 3D graphics chip, the Sega VDP. It was also the first console to feature a built-in CD-ROM drive, the Sega CD. Sega Mega Drive was home to some of the most popular games of its time, such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Streets of Rage, and Mortal Kombat. It was also compatible with a wide range of accessories, including a light gun, a steering wheel, and a trackball.
